The stunning, brand-new five-story building for the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC houses some of the greatest minds in medicine.
Combining interdisciplinary research with the prevention and treatment of cancer, the Ellison Institute focuses on the application of proteomics (the study of the body’s proteins) and genomics, mathematical modeling, integrating clinical trials, pre-clinical studies and molecularly targeted therapy, which focuses on molecular and cellular changes specific to cancer.
The Ellison Institute sought technology that would allow expert scientists, physicians, and thought leaders from around the world to collaborate at the highest level in order to propel vital cancer research initiatives.
According to Ellison Institute CEO Dr. David Agus, one of the world’s leading physicians and a contributor to CBS news, the Ellison Institute wanted technology solutions enabled so that
“Multi-disciplines can work together to find new ways to fight disease - we wanted ways to interact with people all over the globe in a very different way than just straightforward Zoom. We're about looking at touching data, images and orthogonal views of things that T1V actually enabled a lot more than we thought possible for us.”
The Los Angeles, CA building launched in June of 2020 and now, 25 ThinkHub MultiSite systems across five interactive floors surmount hurdles that have been plaguing researchers and physicians for years.
ThinkHub MultiSite, part of T1V’s Work From Anywhere solutions, allows all meeting attendees to contribute equally, no matter their location.
As a feature add-on to T1V’s flagship collaboration product, ThinkHub, ThinkHub MultiSite connects your team with site to site meeting collaboration. Multiple rooms or locations join a single ThinkHub MultiSite session, which connects all the people in those locations in real-time.
The ThinkHub MultiSite session’s shared Interactive Canvas allows all meeting participants to work together with unlimited mobile devices and shared content, like images, PDFs, and more. Connect up to 10 locations and save and resume ThinkHub MultiSite sessions at any time.
The Ellison Institute’s Dr. Agus explains, “the human brain wasn’t wired for Zoom. We were wired to look into cues of each of us as we move, in our body language...we're actually getting up, walking around, showing things. It’s changed our interactions in a very physical way.”
ThinkHub MultiSite collaboration software is featured in conference rooms, labs, huddle spaces, and more for a seamless experience throughout the building. Each ThinkHub display shares a virtual connection for room-to-room and floor-to-floor connectivity.
T1V is excited to be part of such critical work in the research, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
