Earlier this spring, T1V was featured in THE rAVe Agency’s LAVNCH WEEK, the first ever all-digital launch event in the AV industry.
The event brought in huge numbers of registrants - integrators, design firms, and enterprise and education professionals - all who had the opportunity to view the latest AV industry products and trends.
LAVNCH WEEK’s UCC (Unified Communication and Collaboration) Day showcased a Keynote from Zoom executives and included a panel, entitled “What’s Next for UCC Integrators and Power Users?” that included T1V’s very own CTO, Jim Morris.
One facet of LAVNCH WEEK was a set of question and answer polls streamed live and asked virtually to registrants in real-time.
During LAVNCH WEEK - we asked, you answered. This blog series will reveal the polls one by one, and bring you fascinating results that provide insight into how the COVID-19 global pandemic is affecting technology, business, WFH, video conferencing and more.
The first poll question was, “What collaboration tools are being used the most in COVID-19 WFH environments?”
The answer options were:
- Chat app
- Digital workspace app
- Project management app
- Video conferencing
The clear winner? It wasn’t surprising - video conferencing.
78.8% of people reported using video conferencing the most for a collaboration tool in their work from home environments.
Video conferencing has been hugely popular during COVID-19, as quarantines extend and many organizations continue to have their employees work from home. Zoom meetings, Webex conferences, and MS Teams calls are just a few of the video conferencing applications that people are using to connect.
Video conferencing is helpful to simulate face-to-face meetings for quicker communication and to remain engaged with your team.
However, repeated video conferencing calls throughout the day can be taxing on remote participants’ energy. Many employees have complained that video conferencing calls result in fatigue - more so than in-person meetings.
In yesterday’s webinar that explored COVID-19’s Impact on UCC, one of the world’s leading physicians, CEO of the Ellison Institute of USC, and a contributor to CBS, Dr. David B. Agus - explained why repeated video conferencing calls are so tiring to meeting participants.
He explained that research shows historically, humans are wired to interact in 3D. Video conferencing, which is 2D - is not a natural interaction for the human brain. Humans are genetically programmed to operate in 3D interactions.
Once you’re interacting with your surroundings - for example, annotating on a touchscreen or remotely moving pieces of content around an Interactive Canvas, the human brain relaxes, which allows it to absorb information and increase retention.
T1V’s own ThinkHub and HubVC collaboration solutions not only provide that 3D experience with a fully interactive experience for both in-room and and remote meeting participants, they also allow enhanced collaboration capabilities - that are otherwise limited when joining a meeting solely with video conferencing.
The shared view available in T1V collaboration software offers participants the opportunity to see ALL content that is shared at the same time on the board - including content (images, PDFs, videos), shared device screens, web browser windows and more. This could be especially helpful if perhaps, your team is referencing an image file or PDF and also want to display live notes about the content.
Video conferencing platforms allow participants to share their screens, but only one individual can share their screen at a time. This is problematic if you want to collaborate in real-time with your colleagues, for instance, if you need to compare two versions of a document. With the T1V App AirConnect, remote ThinkHub and HubVC participants have the same abilities to view, point, and control the Interactive Canvas just as they would as if they were in the room.
With video conferencing fully integrated into ThinkHub and HubVC, employees can still communicate face-to-face with video conferencing - but take their meeting a step further.
