Project Overview
Marshall University’s Lewis College of Business aimed to create an advanced learning environment at the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation, designed to benefit future business leaders and innovators. Their vision was to establish a dynamic space with interactive and collaborative technologies, imagining it as a state-of-the-art educational hub.
The Marshall leadership team sought to improve hybrid learning, boost student engagement, and support the development of modern workplace skills. To accomplish this, they incorporated ThinkHub visual collaboration solutions into their active learning classrooms, which not only enhanced the student learning experience but also aided professors in adopting innovative teaching methods.
It’s flexible enough to let them teach any way they want to...It’s also focused on hybrid and hyflex situations so you can attend face-to-face or virtually

It was a clear moment of realization for me, seeing firsthand how intuitive and engaging this technology could be for students, and how it allowed them to present their work in such a dynamic and interactive way.

The Solution
ThinkHub classrooms are designed to integrate effortlessly with a wide range of web-based applications, catering to diverse curriculum and teaching needs.
Students can engage in collaborative learning at Student Stations, utilizing wireless device sharing to enhance peer-to-peer interaction through dynamic content sharing, data visualization, and hybrid connectivity. Instructors have the capability to monitor Student Station Canvases from the Instructor Station, and can broadcast content from any content source (the ThinkHub instructor station, or the Student Station) in the room.
The ThinkHub Docks serve as additional displays to broadcast content in the room, and aid students with reference material or can highlight content sources from the ThinkHub system.
In total, Marshall University deployed 9 ThinkHub Education classrooms, each containing:
-
(1) ThinkHub Instructor Station
-
(6) Student Stations
-
(4) ThinkHub Docks
This setup supports both real-time and asynchronous collaboration among students, fostering classroom engagement and peer interaction to deepen understanding of complex subjects.
I know that I feel more excited and empowered to attend classes, collaborate and learn with the new, state-of-the-art technology in the classrooms...The new technology allows the professors to better communicate and visualize the information at hand to students.
