As the global pandemic continues into Q3 of 2020, long term trends are emerging when it comes to work environments.
Disparate coworkers and clients are more common than ever, with hybrid teams spread across location scenarios, connecting from H2H (home to home), H2O (home to office) and O2O (office to office).
With the technology capabilities available in today’s tech landscape, business leaders are acknowledging that remote work is becoming permanent - no matter when your office may reopen.
The Wall Street Journal recently published an article on how large tech companies are paving the way for new work trends, confirming:
- Facebook will support up to half of its employees to work from home
- Twitter will allow employees to work from home indefinitely
- Shopify plans to let most employees WFH
In the WSJ, Craig Malloy, CEO of LifeSize, was quoted,
“This is the tipping point for widespread remote work and we expect to see employers continuing to enable permanent work-from-home arrangements for distributed teams.”
If organizations are giving the choice to employees to work from home, the next question is: what are employers doing to support that decision?
In a live poll during our latest T1V webinar, we posed the question: how many days a week do you plan to work from home once your office reopens?
Only 33.3% of respondents reported that they plan to go back to the office full-time once their office reopens, making the stat a whopping 66.7% of workers who will either completely work from home or have a blended schedule, with some days at the office, and some days working from home.
If 66.7% of the workforce will be working at home the majority of the time or even just partially working from home, it is imperative that employees have a way to connect and collaborate.
