ThinkHub just got an upgrade to its TouchControl™ feature, enabling even smoother control of multiple hardline computers from the ThinkHub Canvas. KVM is the acronym for “keyboard, video, mouse” and its capabilities allow you to control multiple computers from a single keyboard and mouse. This enhancement is especially valuable for command and control environments that require monitoring and managing many systems simultaneously.
Previously, ThinkHub TouchControl allowed connecting various computers via hardline input or T1V app and controlling them from the ThinkHub Canvas using finger-touch. The new upgrade expands this by enabling full keyboard and specialized mouse input (right click, scroll wheel etc.) to be seamlessly passed through to any computer the mouse hovers over.
This means a user can quickly alternate between controlling multiple computers from a single keyboard and mouse, without having to switch devices or click buttons to change active systems. The mouse pointer automatically activates the computer it is currently hovering over for system control.
This fluid “KVM on steroids”, allows unprecedented flexibility in command and control room settings that require:
- Monitoring data/camera feeds from various networks, servers and computers
- Maintaining situational awareness by quickly pulling up status displays, dashboards
- Cross-checking video feeds against data
- Alternating control between various machines and dashboards
With ThinkHub’s enhanced TouchControl, operators can arrange multiple computers running different operating systems and applications on the video wall. They can then use a single keyboard and mouse to seamlessly glide between monitoring, controlling, and cross-referencing these systems.
The benefit is a smooth, low cognitive load and rapid method for absorbing and correlating information across various machines and networks. This supports faster sense-making and decision making without breaking the flow of interaction.
As exponential growth in data and video feeds confront command centers, better KVM capabilities will be crucial for operators to handle information overload. This TouchControl update signifies impressive progress towards the seamless integration of multiple computers into a single intuitive workspace.
The fluidity and mouse/keyboard support provides a superior user experience for managing and correlating various data sources. This will increase operator effectiveness in time-critical, complex command and control environments across defense, emergency response and other industries.
