Communication is key when it comes to organizational updates that impact business continuity. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, communication to employees during these unprecedented times has become especially crucial.
As businesses begin to implement their Multi-Phase Pandemic Recovery Plans, one important focus should be virus prevention guidelines.
T1V’s VP of HR and Administration, Melissa Duncan, created T1V’s own Business Continuity and Pandemic Recovery Plan, highlighting best practices in both human resources and operations while offering tangible solutions to encourage employee safety during the reentry to work. This increased awareness of new office protocol is intended to control virus spread and promote the health and wellbeing of staff.
The Plan has three different phases, with Phase 1 beginning when the state’s Stay-At-Home order concludes, and Phase 2 and Phase 3 starting after specific triggers (for example, less than ‘X’ number of active cases in the area, or when county public schools are reopened).
The ‘Communication Plan of Prevention Guidelines to Employees’ is covered in Phase 1 of the Plan, offering the following clear guidelines to employees:
- Wash hands often with soap and warm water with at least 20 seconds of scrubbing or use alcohol-based hand cleaners (if soap and water is unavailable)
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, not your hands
- Avoid close contact with others who are sick
- Stay home from work if you are have any symptoms of respiratory illness and avoid contact with others
- Refer to the CDC prevention guidelines: https://www.cdc.gov
Additional safety precautions help to stop the spread of the pandemic, and can also be implemented during Phase 1 of a Business Continuity and Pandemic Recovery Plan.
- Remote working is encouraged. If an employee is in a position to effectively do their job from home, this is preferred. Employees that do have to go into the office will be required to take their own temperature prior to entering the building.
- Personal masks will be provided by the company but will not be required to wear while in the building.
